ALAIN MICHELAvocat · Barreau de Paris

Insurance · Industrial risk · Domestic and cross-border disputes

Behind every industrial dispute, an operation that must keep running.

I act for insurers and industrial companies, in France and abroad, through to the full resolution of the dispute, whether it is reached amicably, through a negotiated settlement, before national courts or before an arbitral tribunal.

Paris Bar since 2013

My approach

Start from the industrial stakes, then build the legal strategy

After an incident, the first hours are decisive: securing the evidence, framing the Court Technical Investigations and preserving operations while liability is being determined. Every legal step is then built to serve the objectives of the insurer and the industrial company alike.

For insurers, co-insurers and reinsurers

Coverage analysis and coordination of policies within programmes: local, excess, umbrella and master.

Responsiveness

Urgent measures, evidence preservation and setting up the tools needed to manage the loss and restart industrial production.

Technical command

The technical case is built from day one, with the client’s engineers and by appointing an independent firm of technical advisers.

International reach

Coordinating and managing proceedings in France, the UK and the US, and implementing a concerted strategy across borders.

Background

One counsel, from the site to the courtroom

Member of the Paris Bar since 2013, I have practised in leading firms internationally recognised for industrial risk and insurance, after training in international litigation and arbitration and studies in international and comparative law.

I act for insurers and insured companies alike. This dual perspective makes it possible to anticipate each party’s position and, above all, to identify the common interests on which to build a shared strategy.
